A Member Says:

"The Council is the single most important membership that our firm participates in. Everything from networking with peers who perform around the country at our level, access to our key legislators which has been invaluable for us, and advocacy and representing us at the federal level on very important issues that directly impacts our ability to continue to grow."

CouncilPAC is The Council’s political action committee. The Council has had a political action committee since 1974 when PACs came into existence with the passage of the Federal Election Committee reforms.  It is part of the political process in Washington. Tens of thousands of companies, trade associations and interest groups vie for the attention of 535 members of Congress, and CouncilPAC helps us to make our case before key legislators.

Surplus Lines Reform

In July 2010, The Council-initiated surplus lines provisions of the House-passed Non-admitted and Reinsurance Reform Act were signed into law as part of the larger financial regulatory overhaul included in the Dodd-Frank Act. The law is designed to simplify regulations governing the surplus lines insurance market by consolidating regulatory oversight into the home state of the insured.

The Surplus Lines Reform Information Center will evolve along with upcoming regulatory clarity, and we will keep you posted of significant developments as they occur.  If you have any questions on these materials, please contact Joel Wood at joel.wood@ciab.com.
